CakePHP is a software Framework for the programming language PHP (shocker).

It adds alot of functionality one may need to build a Multi Page Application.

CakePHP values convention over configuration (I should totally link a doc I make explaining pros and cons). So basically the code doing stuff for you without you even having to configure it and just working out the box.

CakePHP works with the MVC (Model View Controller) principle and lets you bake classes for each of those sections.

Baking in CakePHP basically lets you generate boilerplate code that relies on your database and makes models, controllers and views that work together to build a very crude first product that you can build upon.
